Dr. Mark Schwendiman graduated at the top of his class in medical school from Des Moines University, Des Moines, IA. Upon completing medical school, Dr. Schwendiman trained at the highly academic dermatology residency at the San Antonio Military Medical Center, San Antonio, TX. During his training, he spent many hours treating wounded warriors from the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. His training included regular consultations in the burn units in San Antonio, TX and Dallas, TX.
Following his dermatology residency, Dr. Schwendiman was assigned to William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX, for 4 years. While there, Dr. Schwendiman was promoted to the rank of Major in the United States Army. He served as the Chief of Dermatology in the Department of Medicine for 2 years.
During his active duty service, Dr. Schwendiman deployed to South America and Asia – supporting medical missions of the US Air Force and US Army. He was the battalion surgeon for Operation Garuda Shield (Indonesia) and Operation Orient Shield (Japan) for a season.
Dr. Schwendiman is married with 5 children. He loves his family and his new life in Idaho. He loves gardening, reading, and anything Disney. While treating all skin disease, he has a particular interest in cutaneous oncology, including melanoma and cutaneous lymphoma.
