All of Ada West Dermatology’s highly-qualified dermatology clinicians are nationally certified and with their broad collective experience, they can solve any skin conditions you may have. We have Idaho’s first and only board-certified pediatric dermatologist, Dr. Lisa Swanson. Ada Dermatology also has 2 skilled ACMS-fellowship trained Mohs surgeons to remove and expertly repair advanced or recurrent skin cancers. Our experienced and well-trained group hails from some of the best dermatology training institutions in the nation including Dartmouth (2), Mayo Clinic (2), Duke (2), University of Michigan, University of Southern California, and University of Utah. We also have teaching agreements to train future leaders in medicine from the University of Washington, Oregon Health Sciences University, University of Utah, Pacific Northwest University, and Idaho State University. Physicians

Randall Burr
M.D., FAAD
Dr. Randall Burr graduated with honors from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Thereafter, he completed his dermatology residency at Geisinger Medical Center. Dr. Burr has been practicing medicine in the Boise area since 1993 and is the founder of Ada West Dermatology. He is a faculty member of the University of Washington School of Medicine, University of Utah, Oregon Health Sciences University, and ISU School of Nursing. Dr. Burr is married, has 4 children, 8 grandchildren and is a very avid fisherman and hunter.

Alan Pitt
M.D., PhD., FAAD
Dr. Alan Pitt graduated from the Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Michigan. Dr. Pitt has been practicing dermatology in the Treasure Valley since 1998, is married and has 2 children. He also enjoys outdoor winter sports. You’ll often find him on the scenic mountains of Bogus Basin and the nearby Boise Foothills. He especially loves running, road biking, and mountain biking.

Greg Wells
M.D., FAAD
Dr. Greg Wells completed his medical school training from Dartmouth School of Medicine with honors. He then continued at Dartmouth to complete his dermatology residency and dermatopathology fellowship training. Dr. Wells is the lab director for our internal lab, Ada West Dermatopathology. In addition to seeing general dermatology patients, Dr. Wells performs pathological analysis and diagnoses on skin biopsy tissue specimens for the clinic. An Idaho native, Dr. Wells and his wife are enjoying Idaho to water ski, snow ski, and to watch their children actively participate in sports.

Christine Measham
M.D., FAAD
Dr. Christine Measham completed her medical school training at the University of British Columbia. After practicing family medicine for a few years in Canada, she moved to California and did additional residencies in dermatology and pathology at USC and UCLA. After working in New Mexico, she relocated to Boise, ID, and has been enjoying the outdoors. A native of Canada, in her off-hours, she’s actively out playing tennis, golfing, biking, and skiing.

Daniel Winchester
M.D., FAAD
Dr. Daniel Winchester graduated among the top of his medical school class at University of Utah where he was awarded the Presidential Scholarship and inducted into the AOA Honor Medical Society. After twenty-five invitations to interview he was selected to train at the world renowned Mayo Clinic where he also completed a fellowship in Mohs Surgery, Dermatologic Oncology, and Facial and Reconstructive Surgery.
He is published in some of the largest studies to date on rare skin cancers and continues to investigate areas of interest such as aggressive skin cancers and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Winchester has served on committees and leadership roles for the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology where he was selected as the American liaison to Brazil.
A native of Ucon, Idaho, he lives in Boise with his wife and three children. He is an avid reader and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Mark Schwendiman
D.O., FAAD
Dr. Mark Schwendiman graduated at the top of his class in medical school from Des Moines University, Des Moines, IA. Upon completing medical school, Dr. Schwendiman trained at the highly academic dermatology residency at the San Antonio Military Medical Center, San Antonio, TX. During his training, he spent many hours treating wounded warriors from the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. His training included regular consultations in the burn units in San Antonio, TX and Dallas, TX.
Following his dermatology residency, Dr. Schwendiman was assigned to William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX, for 4 years. While there, Dr. Schwendiman was promoted to the rank of Major in the United States Army. He served as the Chief of Dermatology in the Department of Medicine for 2 years.
During his active duty service, Dr. Schwendiman deployed to South America and Asia – supporting medical missions of the US Air Force and US Army. He was the battalion surgeon for Operation Garuda Shield (Indonesia) and Operation Orient Shield (Japan) for a season.
Dr. Schwendiman is married with 5 children. He loves his family and his new life in Idaho. He loves gardening, reading, and anything Disney. While treating all skin disease, he has a particular interest in cutaneous oncology, including melanoma and cutaneous lymphoma.

Ryan Thorpe
M.D., FAAD
Dr. Ryan Thorpe graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at the top of his class, served as President of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, and was honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award. He then completed dermatology residency at Duke University where he served as the chief resident. Dr. Thorpe has trained under the direction of world renowned Mohs surgeons Drs. John Zitelli and David Brodland in the Mohs Surgery, Cutaneous Oncology, and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship.
Dr. Thorpe has authored several scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals regarding cutaneous oncology and complex facial reconstruction as well as several chapters in dermatology textbooks. He also is scheduled to be a speaker at the 2020 American Academy of Dermatology meeting.
Dr. Thorpe is a native of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area lives in Meridian with his wife and five children and enjoys family, food, sports, outdoors, and church.

Lisa Swanson
M.D., FAAD
Dr. Lisa Swanson is Ada West Dermatology’s newest addition to the stellar clinical staff. Dual-board certified in dermatology AND pediatric dermatology, Dr. Swanson fulfills a much needed niche in pediatric dermatology for the region as there is not a pediatric dermatologist within a 350 mile radius. She loves the difficult pediatric dermatology cases for diagnosis and treatment of newborns, infants, toddlers, and teenagers but is also very adept with general adult dermatology cases.
After medical school at Tulane University, she did her dermatology residency at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, followed by a pediatric dermatology fellowship at Phoenix Children’s hospital.
Dr. Swanson is an active lecturer at national conferences discussing pediatric dermatology with clinical audiences across the country. She is a past President of the Colorado Dermatologic Society. Known for her excellent bedside manner and expertise, she has been selected as a “Top Doc” by 5280 Magazine in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. In addition to outpatient visits, Dr. Swanson plans to do hospital consults and perform procedures.
Dr. Swanson loves sports and likes to spend her free time hiking, skiing, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family, friends and her 2 dogs.
Dr. Swanson works mostly at the Ten Mile Clinic (including Saturday clinics) with the exception of Tuesday at the main Millennium clinic (off Overland Rd).

Whitney Vinson
M.D., FAAD
Dr. Whitney Vinson is a Nampa, ID native and is looking forward to be back in her home state. After her undergraduate studies at TCU, she completed medical school at Tulane University at the top of her class. Dr. Vinson’s dermatology residency was at Indiana University.
She is married and has two children.

Cameron Wales
M.D.
Dr. Cameron Wales is originally from south Florida. After his undergraduate studies at UC Santa Cruz in Bioengineering (highest honors in major), he completed medical school at the University of Central Florida. He then did an anatomic/clinical pathology residency at UC San Diego, where he served as chief resident, followed by a dermatopathology fellowship at UCLA.
He and his wife are expecting a son in December 2022. Dr. Wales and his family are looking forward to exploring all of Idaho’s beautiful outdoors.

Emily Boozalis
M.D., FAAD
Dr. Boozalis is originally from Houston, Texas. She completed her medical training at Johns Hopkins Medical School, where she graduated at the top of her class with AOA honors. She did her dermatology residency at UCLA, where she was elected by peers and faculty to serve as Chief Resident. Dr. Boozalis has over 20 peer-reviewed academic publications and has given oral presentations at the annual American Academy of Dermatology conference. She is the recipient of many academic awards, including the Johns Hopkins Dermatology Award for Research Excellence and most recently UCLA Dermatology’s Resident of the Year.
Dr. Boozalis, her husband and toddler are looking forward to calling Boise home and exploring Idaho’s natural beauty.

Ryan Wells
MD/PhD, Pharm D
Dr. Ryan Wells is originally from Mountain Home, ID. He started off his career as a pharmacist (Idaho State U), but then went to obtain his MD/PhD at University of Alabama-Birmingham to play a more active role in medicine. His PhD work on tuberculosis and HIV took him to S. Africa and Botswana. Dr. Wells then did a combined residency in internal medicine and dermatology at the University of Minnesota. His interests include rural and community medicine.
Dr. Ryan Wells loves spending time with his children when away from work.

Jennifer Scott
M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Scott is originally from Orlando, FL. After her undergraduate studies at U of Central Florida, she completed her MD and PhD degrees at Medical University of South Carolina with honors. She then did a combined dual residency in internal medicine and dermatology at Georgetown University, followed by a dermatopathology fellowship at Penn State.
She and her husband spend their off hours hiking and rock climbing. They are excited to be able to explore the great outdoors that Idaho offers.
Dr. Scott splits her time doing both general dermatology and dermatopathology. She’s looking forward to using her broad-based training in 3 medical disciplines to help out with the complex medical dermatology patients.

Peter Boothman
M.D.
Dr. Peter Boothman grew up in the orchards and wheat fields of eastern Washington (Yakima and Pullman). After undergraduate studies at Washington State University (zoology), Dr. Boothman earned his MD degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Boothman then completed his advanced clinical trials research fellowship and Dermatology Residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. His Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship was completed at Surgical Dermatology Group. To help augment his cosmetic training, Dr. Boothman also did an ASDS Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship at Clinic 5C.
Outside of work, Dr. Boothman is an outdoor enthusiast, foodie, history buff, and trivia lover. He most enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.
Dr. Boothman will be available to see patients starting February 2024 at the SE Boise location. Dr. Boothman is looking forward to applying his world-class training in general dermatology, dermatologic surgery, and cosmetics to best serve the Treasure Valley paients.

Alexander Arhets

Alec received his PA degree from the University of Nebraska. After a career in the US Air Force, he moved to Idaho where he has been practicing dermatology for nearly 2 decades. A native of the West Coast, Alec is married and has one child. Alec actively enjoys the outdoors training for triathlons, trail running, and mountain biking in the nearby Boise foothills.

James Barclay

James graduated from Touro University with his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies and has over a decade of dermatology experience, and is a Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants diplomate fellow. He is a BSU graduate and grew up in Idaho. He is married and has a fun time chasing around 3 kids. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors and BSU football.

Jennifer Cook

Jennifer received her FNP degree from Frontier Nursing University. In addition to her accumulated experience working as a provider at a private dermatology practice in Utah, she was also trained by Dr. Burr. Being an Idaho native and BSU alumni, she is happy to be back in Eagle, ID with her 2 children. She loves working out and enjoys spending time with her kids in outdoor pursuits.

Stephen Frelly

Steve has been practicing dermatology for over 20 years. He received his Physician Assistant degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and is retired from the US Air Force. He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Idaho Academy of Physician Assistants. When not in the office, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, traveling abroad, and exploring Idaho’s great outdoors on his dirt bike.

Brian Friedt

Brian received his PA degree from Western University of Health Sciences and is a Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants diplomate fellow. Originally from Montana, he has resided in Idaho since 1992. Brian joined the practice in 2000 as Idaho’s first dermatology PA and was directly trained by Dr. Burr. He is married and has 2 children. In his off hours he enjoys cycling and hiking.

Teresa Graklanoff

Teresa is a Boise Native and has resided in the Boise Valley through all its growth. She graduated from the University of Idaho and received her PA degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences University, in Denver, Colorado in 2002. Teresa practiced family medicine and pediatrics for 3 years prior to working in dermatology and was honored with the “Idaho Physician Assistant of the Year” award in 2005. Her love for families and kids is still evident while she focuses on medical and cosmetic dermatology for clients of all ages. She has enjoyed working with the Ada West Dermatology “family” group since 2005.
She is married and has 2 beautiful daughters. She enjoys outdoor activities, chasing her girls around with all of their activities and spending time with family.

Hannah Jones

Hannah joins Ada West Dermatology with six years of Physician Assistant experience in family medicine. As a previous student of Dr. Burr, she is happily returning to Idaho and the Ada West team.
Hannah graduated from Oregon State University with degrees in Biochemistry/Biophysics, Spanish, and International Studies. After working in research in Spain and domestically at Tufts University and OHSU, Hannah received her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at Idaho State University.
Hannah enjoys being outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her husband and kids.

Kate Smalley

Originally from E. Idaho, Kate did her college and graduate studies at Idaho State University. Kate trained and worked with Dr. Elston, a past American Academy of Dermatology president, at Medical University of South Carolina before returning to Idaho.
Kate is excited to be back in Idaho practicing dermatology at the Ten Mile clinic. In her spare time, Kate enjoys working out and spending time in the scenic outdoors.

Jason Smith

Jason graduated from Duke University with a Master of Health Sciences and PA degree. He is certified by the NCCPA and is an American Academy of PAs fellow.
A native of Arizona, he relocated to Idaho in order to hike and explore the great outdoors with his wife and three children. He loves any sport that involves a ball or a board but has a special love for basketball, longboarding and snowboarding.

Renee Wilson

Renee joins Ada West with 18 years of Physician Assistant experience in the Treasure Valley, including 8 years in family practice/women’s health and 9 years in GI/liver disease. She originally rotated with Dr. Burr as a student in 2004, and returned to resume her dermatology training in April 2022. Renee graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, ID, in 2000. She then completed the Master of Science in Physician Assistant studies at the Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, AZ, in 2004.
Renee hails originally from Lewiston, ID, and prior to that Kamiah, ID. Having grown up in Idaho, she deeply appreciates the beauty and recreation Idaho has to offer. She enjoys camping, hiking, and backpacking with her husband and four children.

Stacey Driskell

Stacey Driskell is our licensed laser aesthetician and electrologist with over 20 years experience. In addition to her laser certifications, she has certifications in skin care and chemical peels. Her passion for the industry helps set her apart from others in the field and she is ready to help you feel better about your skin and aging. She has been a past president of the Association Idaho Electrology and Esthetics (AIEE) for several terms. Stacey enjoys quilting and home remodeling in her spare time.
